Use Less Energy with Air Conditioning

Use Less Energy with Air Conditioning

Air conditioning provides essential thermal comfort, especially in hot regions. However, uncontrolled use can quickly increase electricity consumption. Here are simple and effective actions to optimize its operation while reducing your energy bill.

1. Choose the Right Temperature

Every degree matters. Setting the temperature to 24–25°C is enough to maintain a comfortable environment. A large difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures forces the compressor to work harder. This overconsumption strains the unit and increases energy costs.

2. Never Neglect Maintenance

A poorly maintained air conditioner can lose up to 30% of its efficiency. Filters should be cleaned at least once a month, and refrigerant circuits should be checked annually. A clean unit consumes less energy and delivers healthier air.

3. Position the Indoor Unit Correctly

The unit should be placed away from direct sunlight and in an open space. Avoid installing it near heat sources like kitchens or refrigerators. Poor placement can distort temperature readings and cause unnecessary energy use.

4. Keep Doors and Windows Closed While Operating

When the air conditioner is running, keep doors and windows closed. Warm air entering from outside forces the compressor to run continuously. Installing thermal curtains or blinds also helps stabilize the temperature.

5. Use the Right Operating Modes

•    Eco Mode: Reduces power without compromising comfort.
•    Sleep Mode: Gradually adjusts the temperature during the night.
•    Timer: Schedules start and stop times based on room occupancy.

6. Prefer Inverter Technology

Inverter air conditioners consume 30–40% less electricity than conventional models. Their compressors continuously adjust speed, avoiding repeated starts, which are the most energy-consuming.

7. Improve Room Insulation

Well-insulated walls, windows, and ceilings reduce heat loss, allowing the air conditioner to operate at lower power for longer periods. Even a simple seal around doors or windows improves energy efficiency.

8. Limit the Number of Running Appliances

Operating multiple electrical devices in the same room increases internal heat. The air conditioner then has to compensate for this extra heat. Turning off unused equipment helps balance the temperature more quickly.

9. Match the Unit to Room Size

An undersized air conditioner consumes more energy because it runs constantly. An oversized unit causes short, repeated cycles. Proper sizing depends on room area and occupancy. At ADTF, every installation takes these factors into account.

10. Control Usage Duration

Running an air conditioner all day is unnecessary. It is better to cool the room before occupants arrive and then maintain the temperature. Intelligent scheduling ensures comfort without wasting energy.
These simple actions combine savings and performance. A well-used air conditioner becomes a key ally for sustainable comfort.
